Milgard Fiberglass Windows
Ultra Series - Milgard prides itself in this, their only completely fiberglass window product. Because fiberglass is made of glass fibers, the frame and the glass componenets expand and contract at close to the same rate so there is very little chance of the seals breaking or cracking unlike in vinyl windows or otherwise. Also, fiberglass lends itself to a wood-like appearance so curb appeal is just as nice (there is an option to paint your own fiberglass windows as well). Among these options, there are more, such as: "endless" grill options, glass choices, and hardware finishes. On top of all this, Milgard provides a Full Lifetime Warranty with Glass breakage.
WoodClad Series - As on the website, these wood-interior fiberglass-exterior windows meet the best of both the wood and fiberglass worlds; they satisfy both the "architectural purist and the realist." Facing the street, the windows are encompassed in the fiberglass used in the pure fiberglass windows Milgard offers, so the wear and tear from the weather is absolutely minimized. Then, on the inside, the joy of looking at a warm, visually-appealing window is possible. Just like their fibergalss cousins, these WoodClad windows are available in a variety of grill, glass, hardware and finish options. Finally, the same Full Lifetime Warranty is granted with Glass breakage.
About Milgard Manufacturing, Inc.
Since Milgard's inception in 1958 in Tacoma, WA, this window manufacturing giant has been manufacturing some of the best windows on the market today. Based on the principles of Maurice Milgard, Jr., who founded the company, and his son, Gary, Milgard has alwyas produced the entire window product within the boundaries of the top window company (they ever temper their own glass!). In 1968, Milgard started producing sliding glass doors, and two years later, aluminum frames were offered to fit both single pane and insulating glass.
1989 was the first year that the leading window manufacturer started offering vinyl frames, and following that year, in 1990, MIlgard started its WoodClad window line, which was completely new and innovative at the time. Now, the company has presence not only in Tacoma and the surrounding area, but also in Portland, Oregon; Las Vegas, Nevada; Sacramento, Temecula, Hollister, Simi Valley, and Dixon, California; Denver, Colorado; Salt Lake City, Utah; Phoenix, Arizona; Chicago, Illinois, and Fredericksburg, Virginia.
In 2001, Masco Corporation bought out Milgard Manufacturing, Inc. Masco is one of the world's largest brand-name manufactureres (especially in the home improvement and construction industries) and has since helped Milgard branch out, creating a deeper customer base each year.
